There are many companies out there who make WordPress websites, so why choose us?
WordPress is our specialty!
Having spent thousands of hours working with WordPress, designing, developing, training, and troubleshooting, we are specialists at WordPress. Sure, we love learning about Angular JS and Node, Jekyll and static websites. But our bread and butter is WordPress. We learn all we can about WordPress and bring that knowledge to our clients.
One of the most common questions we get is, “What is a good plugin for __________?” And we love sharing what we know.
We know the WordPress Culture
Every community has a culture and a set of practices that it follows to stay in line with that culture. I myself am Japanese, and we have a saying, “The nail that sticks up gets hammered down.” The Japanese as a culture love conformity and if you don’t conform, then you are punished. Actually, I don’t know the Japanese culture because I grew up with it. I grew up here in Hawaii. I’ve learned many of these Japanese culture practices by traveling to Japan and learning the customs and culture. And I’ve spent years studying Japan and Japanese.
WordPress also has a culture of it’s own. One part of this culture are standards and best practices for professionals when working with WordPress. There are coding standards when developing themes and plugins. There best practices when modifying themes (this is using a child theme). There are best practices when coding plugins so that your plugin won’t interfere with other plugins that may be running on a given website.
When people don’t follow the WordPress culture, it makes working on a project that much harder. The themes and plugins can still work, and I have no doubt that wonderful developers made those themes and plugins. But we follow WordPress standards as best as we can.
Quality and Careful Work
We manage a lot of websites. And we get our share of requests to clean up malware from websites. And the top three causes of a malware infection are preventable. First, pay for a good web host, not a cheap one. Second, users must have strong passwords. Third, a security plugin will prevent most malware on small business websites. By the way, there are very good free plugins that can boost your security. Jetpack, iThemes Security, and Wordfence are three plugins I recommend.
It’s an all too common occurrence for us to find a website that is blocking search engines from indexing their content. This means, those businesses will NEVER appear in search listings.
Sometimes businesses don’t have a Search Engine Optimization (aka SEO) plugin running. This is another free and simple thing that every WordPress website should be running. Installing an SEO plugin will help Google find all of your content and help you appear higher in search rankings.
All this to say, there are many companies, even good companies that either didn’t understand WordPress when they designed a business’ website or they needed to cut corners because the budget for those projects were too tight.
We do quality work. And we believe we charge fair prices for expert WordPress work in design and development.
Hi, I’m Arlen. I’m the founder and owner of HawaiiWP.com LLC. I stand behind my company and the work we do for small businesses in Hawaii (the mainland, and our international clients). We are not the cheapest company out there, but we have fair prices and we do things right.
We thank you for considering us to Host, Manage, and Design your small business website.
