Special thanks to Sophina of Clear Bench Co. for leading the presentation on Sales Funnels and putting me on the spot at the last minute. Nah, actually, I got about a thousand dollars worth of free consulting as Sophina used my company as an example of how to start from nothing and think about a sales funnel.
In case you missed it, well, you missed it. But I’ll try to summarize a few of Sophina’s points:
A good sales funnel can work for any business. Sophina experienced a great sales funnel at her chiropractor of all places. A little while ago she was in a lot of pain and looking for someplace to go to find relief at a reasonable cost. After doing some research on Yelp and finding a Groupon discount she’s seleceted the chiropractor that she could see for a few times at minimal cost. So she went to this chiropractor and he did such a great job that after the first visit she was pain free. But she kept going back because she bough an initial pack of 3 visits.
What the chiropractor did after those first few visits was a genius of marketing and a sales funnel. After those initial visits he offered her the next step in a sales funnel: a package of adjustments and a plan for wellness. Well the results from the first few visits had her sold. And the chiropractor proved that he was a great marketer.
His sales funnel looks like this: an inexpensive offer to get people in the door and prove his value then he followed it up with a package deal to cover the next six months, all the while he was proving his worth to his customers, and in the end he created a lifelong customer and evangelist.
That’s the power of the sales funnel. Get a good number of people to try your services or products, find out how good they are, and then sell them the next item and turn them into repeat customers, and finally have them become lifelong promoters of your business.
I won’t bore you with the whole story of how Sofina then took a look at the products that I offer and put them together in a good sales funnel. I had a rudimentary understanding of this, but her coaching was insightful and amazing. Now my task is to connect each of the products that I offer, prove my credibility as a service provider, and automate the process of getting repeat business. Yes, I have a lot of homework to do.
To wrap up the evening Sofina gave us the secret formula to make the whole sales funnel come together. The Formula is this:
- Who are you targeting?
Where are they?
What’s the bait to catch them
And where do you want them to go.
Of course Sophina’s presentation went into great depth on each of these points and got us all thinking about how we can apply these principles to our businesses.

Can’t wait to see what comes next! Hope to see you at the next Meetup on April 25 at 6:30pm.
